Are Human Rights for Some and Not for Others?

The UN constantly condemns Israel, through its disgraceful “Human Rights” council, and always ignores the real human rights violations and war crimes conducted by the Hamas and the PA against Palestinians and Israelis on a daily basis. Why does the security of Israeli civilians living under daily bombardment by Hamas mean nothing to the “International community”? From the Jerusalem Post:

Liraz Madmony, a 23-year-old law student from Sderot, addressed the UN Human Rights Council Special Session on Gaza in Geneva on behalf of the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) on Monday, before the vote by the council that condemned Israel’s military offensive in Gaza and resolved to send a fact-finding mission to investigate alleged Israeli abuses against Palestinians.

Thank you, Mr. President.

Are human rights for some, but not others?

The constant assault on Sderot has destroyed our ability to lead a normal life. The warning before each attack gives us only 15 seconds to run for shelter. Fifteen seconds that will decide, life or death. [Read More]

I was at UCR yesterday and a group of students were holding signs with tape on their mouths protesting Israel’s “disregard” for UN Resolutions. They were part of some Students for Palestine group. We asked them that if they were protesting the deaths of Palestinian civilians as crimes against mankind, when would they be having an anti-Hamas rally for their ill regard for Israeli civilians. It went down hill from there.

I don’t understand how people can feel that it is acceptable to condemn Israel for self-defense, but then not do the same to Hamas or Palestine. It’s an unfortunate situation.
