OK, I work at Borders and I am in the Bay area. No store would ever do that.

Out store in particular make a very strong point to have both sides presented. Right now we do have an Obama table, but it also has on it anti-Obama books and the ratio is about 50/50 (changes due to what sells out and what we have in stock to replace it with).

Also, from the corners I can see, this looks like it would be the kids section ( from the illustration on the book next to the bear) in which case none of those books except for the one in the middle - "BARACK" would belong there.

I would also like to know when this photo was supposedly taken because the bear is Chaucer and we sold him at Christmas last year. He hasn't been in any store since then. I think this is just an attempt to get people like Troy riled up and an attempt to hurt Borders in general.

But hey, you'll do what you will. I would suggest though that before you say "I'll never shop there again" you actually go in and take a look at YOUR store and see what it is like.

I'm very proud of the store I work at, we try to be fair and balanced in our approach to the political stuff. I'm the rabid conservative where I work and we constantly have balancing acts when putting out books to make sure things aren't tilted too far one way or another.

It looks a little fake to me too... The sign is weird. I'd like to hear Borders say something about it.

I agree with Troy. Borders should clear this. If it was an oversight. However. On this days of picture doctoring. I would not be surprised that some conservative nut pasted that RELIGION Sign on Obama’s book section picture.

I sent an email to Borders, informing them that I would no longer frequent their establishment unless they were willingly to publicly comment on this incident. This should be offensive to all religions and even those citizens who are non-religious. It could be a simple oversight on the part of store staff, but I think Borders should admit the mistake.
