Revolutionize CCR Party, Big Hit at CRP

The word in California Republican circles is that the Revolutionize CCR hospitality suite at CRP this weekend was one of the most successful party of the convention:

College Republicans Candidate for Chairman Michael Antonopoulos, who contributed to Fox&Hounds last year, hosted what most agree was the most popular hospitality suite of the weekend, packed wall to wall throughout the night; several GOP electeds and party officials dropped by to vocalize their support of his plan to expand youth outreach throughout California.

As someone who attended the hospitality suite I have to agree that it was a huge hit. The suite was full, as Chandra Sharma writes above in the Fox & Hounds Daily, from the time the party began and late into the night. Not only CR’s attended the event, California Republican leaders were also in attendance, there were speeches by Assemblyman Chuck DeVore who co-hosted the event, Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, Assemblywoman Diane Harkey, San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio, and CRP Vice-Chair Tom Del Beccaro (don’t think I’m missing anyone). DeMaio, Fletcher, Harkey and Del Beccaro endorsed Michael Antonopoulos for CCR Chair, and all vocalized support for his consistent and determined leadership as a CR. Here’s a picture of the event released by Revolutionize CCR:

(From left to right) Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, Current CCR Executive Director Matthew Dobler, Current CCR Co-Chair Leigh Wolf, Candidate for CCR Co-Chair Falicia Mandel, Campaign Manager Matt Donnellan, Candidate for CCR Chair Michael Antonopoulos

There will be more to re-cap come from CRP tomorrow, especially the CCR meeting which was also a tremendous success, with over 175 in attendance and a great speakers line-up.

1 red state rising party a joke... { 02.24.09 at 2:10 am }

I lost all respect for red state rising this weekend. red state thought they would be sly and have their party on the same floor just down the hall, they even sent their people into the revccr party to try and snipe party goers for the red state party (including me). Despite red state’s best efforts, their party was an unequivocal disaster. I went for a bit and found what appeared a birthday party, complete with red and white streamers as well as balloons. Who;s the skinny guy who sticks his camera in everyone’s face? He was at the red state party when i was there. How annoying was that? Obviously a crappy red state rising hospitality suite doesn’t necessarily mean anything for the upcoming ccr election, but it was quite something to see all those legislators and party leaders endorse RevCCR in one night. I noticed you didn’t include devore in those who endorsed, I think devore DID endorse revccr. He co-hosted the event, why would he fund a party for a group he didn;t endorse?

I’m the “skinny guy” who you say was in “everyone’s face.” If you have a problem with me, then take it up with me personally. Otherwise don’t go trying to start an argument. As being annoying, I don’t give a crap, because honestly I only take pictures of people who either 1) ask for them (and none of them ever complains), or 2) who I’m friends with (and none of them ever complains either).

Stop being rude, lighten up, and relax.

3 truth { 02.26.09 at 4:22 pm }

Chuck DeVore didn’t personally endorse Rev or Red because of his current campaign for Senator. He co-hosted an event with college students to outreach to them for his campaign.

Alec, are you the dude that got thrashed by Leigh Wolf after passing around some random shit at the CCR meeting? Saw the camera… just wondering.

5 Leigh Wolf { 02.27.09 at 2:44 pm }

“Alec, are you the dude that got thrashed by Leigh Wolf after passing around some random shit at the CCR meeting?”

Yes he was. You’re a sniveling weasel Alec. Bring that trash to the CCR convention, I dare you.

6 a shocked cr { 03.01.09 at 10:49 am }

arent you the co chair of ccr? should you even be saying stuff like this?
its unbecoming of an officer in an organization, and anyone who acts this way to its member is not professional and shouldn’t be on the board.

7 Matt Schenk { 03.01.09 at 2:36 pm }

Is that a threat Leigh. personal threats will not be tolerated. and anyone who makes statements without attaching their names should not be taken seriously, i mean man up guys.

8 Unbecoming { 03.01.09 at 4:27 pm }

It’s not professional for the co-chair to stop a whiney loser from passing out a “press release” meant to embarrass and defame a cr in a public and professional environment?
Leigh could have done something unprofessional, instead, he told Alec to stop passing his crap around and get out. Sure the language was a little salty, but, Alec was making a mockery of CCR in front of CR and party leaders.
Good thing someone like Leigh is on the board to keep everything professional and positive. I mean, man up guys.

9 Matt Schenk { 03.01.09 at 6:00 pm }

like i said, if you dont attach a name to a post it will not be validated. i mean come on, what are you afraid of?

10 Leigh Wolf { 03.01.09 at 8:20 pm }

Yes Matt Schenk it is a threat. I’m glad you picked that up. I will not tolerate individual club members embarrassing CCR by airing their clubs dirty laundry to a state wide audience. I will publicly embarrass and make famous anyone who puts their own agenda before CCR at the expense of CCR’s reputation. So i repeat to Alec Wiseman, Bring that trash to the CCR convention, i dare you.

11 Have Some Class { 03.02.09 at 11:55 am }

I agree with Leigh. CRs like Alec need to have some class. What he did was extremely distasteful and unnecessary. No one cares about his school’s change of leadership- it only furthers the public’s view of their illegitimacy. CRs like Alec need to know that there is a proper place and time for acts like that (of which the CCR meeting was not). These people just don’t get it. Maybe that’s why they’ll never amount to anything more than on-campus club tyrants.

Also Matt, I find it quite ironic that you out of all people are now making it an issue about anonymity (people being anonymous -incase it was too big of a word for you) when in the past you’ve been the king of posting invalidated and fictitious comments under a pseudonym (again- a fake/fictitious name). Why the change of heart all of a sudden?

I’m glad that we have a board that understands what it is to be professional and competent. Maybe they can give some pointers to those UCSD cry babies.

12 Hannah Jackman { 03.03.09 at 2:25 am }

Leigh, we were perfectly within our rights to take quiet action to prevent an impeached officer (with good reason, I might add) from masquerading as a member of the leadership of our club–which would only be an internal matter, except that she’s running for state board under that premise.

Also, I would suggest not putting your threats in writing on a public website. There is always the possibility that anything you put in writing could be used against you in a legal capacity.

Furthermore, a slate shouldn’t be evaluated based on their ability to throw a party. That would be like voting for Obama because he looks better on TV.

And lastly, you all take this stuff way too seriously. You could all benefit from lightening up and remembering that a college club is A. supposed to be fun and B. is reliant upon our ability to work together to further a common cause. We are all on the same side. Be kind to one another and don’t burn bridges.

13 hey skinny guy { 03.03.09 at 11:11 am }

Alec,

You’ve taken plenty of pictures of me and not once have I asked. So please refrain in the future (I’m asking now).

14 a shocked cr { 03.03.09 at 4:05 pm }

skinny guy how is alec to know who you are if your not giving your name, thats sort of dumb dont you think?

15 Leigh Wolf { 03.03.09 at 9:18 pm }

Who the hell is Hannah Jackman?

16 Really RSR? { 03.03.09 at 11:07 pm }

Leigh i don’t think you need to worry about who hannah jackman is, i think she needs to get her head out of her ass and figure out who you are. What is she going to sue you for threatening to embarrass Alec Doucheman again? Of all the people for RSR to attack….why Leigh Wolf? and he’s not even running for anything! Leigh is like, a world famous CR. the CRNC named his club #1 in the country….wow RSR, you’re attacking the guy who runs the best club in the nation…sounds like a winning strategy. RSR is either desperate or ignorant.

17 Desperate or ignorant? { 03.03.09 at 11:48 pm }

Can we agree that it’s probably both?

18 get a grip, kids { 03.05.09 at 2:11 pm }

hey leigh, if you’re really the hot-shot you claim to be you might want to act with conduct becoming of a respected leader in the CR community. i mean, slandering people on a CR website? and threatening schenk at CRP within earshot of well, everyone? it has nothing to do with RSR. you should be embarrassed. and so should all you other people slandering your fellow CRs on this site.

I think this Leigh figure would love to read this, as well as ponder about the possible ramifications he and his cronies will have in in the future if they continue these underhanded deals via crooked means.

Whether these people agree or not, Hannah was right on the spot in saying that everyone does have a right to peacefully distribute materials regarding a masquerading budding state politician (sadly).

Although I’ve never met this Leigh fellow who loves blasting people in the virtual realm, I can tell that he obviously does not care about what it really means to be a Republican, and more importantly an American and a Constitutionalist at that. No matter how much you disagree with someone, you can’t be making threats like those (above) against Schenk and Alec. tsk tsk.

Power really does corrupt.

wow guys wats happened to CRs i remember time as a member as a memorable ones we all had a great times in san diego at the get out the vote weekend and we were so unified during the campaign we must remember that college is a time to build not destroy bridges whats gotten into you all? it appears that personal desire for advancement and fame has clouded a great majority of your judgment. Dejah was vindicated by her club and it was shameful for ANYONE to then go over the vote that took place are we not in the same party? such dirty tricks are becoming or conservatives like Wallace or democrats however i wonder if even democrats behave towards one another in this manner. this is more then disappointing, why have so many heads been clouded why are there so many of you who have forgotten the true meaning of crs were supposed to be the leaders of the future yet the behavior im seeing is more befitting the cosa nostra. shape up or ship out crs is supposed to be positive thing those who enter it with personal desires and personal vendettas only spoil the pot for those of us who have honest intentions. and specking as a former vp of my club in really disheartened by my former counterpart in San Diego its apparent from the 23 to nothing vote for impeachment of the VP that the only one who wanted her to be president or in the club at all was her and possibly 1 or 2 uninformed people who didn’t have the courage to vote. you guys, lets put personal desire aside and work for a better day for cali i mean lets be honest the state has FAR more pressing issues to deal with then infighting. why not put your efforts into helping you fellow Californians threw these tuff times be a shining light atop the hill not the bums fighting in the street over scraps. please note that i put my hole name on this and anyone who wants some should put there name on there comment so i no who’s attacking me don’t be scarred! and all those who agree and are still in cali get more involved take the rains away from the crazies who have corrupted CR’s if not for urselfs for those who will fallow us.

22 Bystanding CR { 04.09.09 at 2:02 pm }

What I don’t understand is, don’t we all want the same things for our state party? Then why all the backstabbing and fighting and threats? Don’t you think it would be more conducive to work TOGETHER to accomplish our goals rather than to pick sides? Don’t ANY of you feel that a united CCR would be much stronger than a divided CCR? I feel like I’m an extra on a conservative telenovela.
