Full Revolutionize CCR slate elected.

quoth the CCR constitution:
“Article III: Membership Requirements
Section 2: There shall be only one CCR club on each campus at one time. Thus, as long as there is one CCR club in good standing on a given campus, no other Republican club may become a CCR club in good standing on that campus. The Executive Committee shall determine what constitutes an individual campus. ”
Now this absolutely does not sound anything like what went on at UCSD. No IFs, ANDs, or BUTs about it. How can anyone justify what went on there?

In addition, your “Developing” story mentions not the fact that not only did Chairwoman Cheyenne Steel’s hearing fail her during the initial voice vote with the UCLA CRs, but they immediately walked out after the seemingly split vote, alongside a chartered UCIrvine CR club. After this shocker, a voice vote was held with regard to the charter of the UCSan Diego College Republicans (*note I did not write in the name of the illegitimate “Triton College Republicans”). After this voice vote failed–after UCIrvine and UCLA had left, the entire UCSan Diego CRs, the Saddleback CRs, the Pasadena CRs, as well as a handful of USC CRs and UCSB CRs –so I hear– also walked out of the election room, leaving a sea of ONLY “RevolutionizeCCR” cast members in the room to vote.
It is absolutely unfair for this article to say that had UCLA and UCSD not left, the vote would have still been absolutely lopsided; in fact, you brothers fail to mention that the other organizations which had boycotted the unfair-ness along with these two schools were majority RSR supporters. Coincidence? I think not. The last delegate who actually had a say in the matter was one-hundred percent correct in stating “Three words: CONFLICT-OF-INTEREST” in describing the entire convention, election, and weeks leading up to today.
Having said this, I will leave it to others to voice their opinions, as well as fill in any missing facts (there are a TON of other problems with this conventions I’ve left for others).
It is extremely saddening for me to see such a well-respected institution such as the CCRs fail miserably and succumb to illegitimacy, especially in the current political climate and situations facing California, and the Republican Cause at this moment in time.
This was a live report of the election results, everything will be covered by Tomorrow morning.
Wow, nice tirade there Iartthou, but let’s be serious for a moment. RevCCR had over 400 delegate votes on the floor, and at its highest point RSR had maybe 50 at best. Do you honestly think anyone is dumb enough to believe that Cheyenne Steel just didn’t hear the voice vote properly and you somehow magically succeeded despite being outnumbered 8-1?
And to put things in perspective – if none of RSR’s schools were dumb enough to walk out before any voting took place, and even if RSR had succeeded in circumventing the rules and submitting a UCLA charter the day of voting and getting the 2nd UCSD delegation recognized – that still equates to well under 100 votes.
Seriously, grow up and quit whining. You Red State Rising people like to compare yourselves to Ronald Reagan, but after the ass-kicking you took this morning, I’d say you’re a lot more like Walter Mondale.
woah woah woah, don’t insult mondale like that. At least mondale got 40% of the vote.
If UCLA and UCSD had chartered and voted for Ellison: 398-47
Well, I have very low respect for Red State Rising’s logistics, but is this particular count meaningful? UCLA’s and UCSD’s delegations certainly came from large enough clubs for each present member to represent two proxies, so if the election was seriously contested, the money would have been spent to make that the case. As it was, the respective club leaders clearly made the right decision in not wasting money on that investment. But okay, you still get to make the claim… until you realize that you’re ignoring UCI and Saddleback’s walkout in the face of CCR’s refusal to reverse its unconstitutional UCSD chartering decision. You should count them so you don’t give my side unnecessary ammunition. You still get to claim a landslide victory, but you also get to come across as magnanimous.
Yes, I’m helping you guys out here. In the future, I hope we can put this behind us and fight together on the same team. We are fighting for so many of the same causes.
But I think you have a fair bit to learn before that can happen. I probably have some things to learn as well, and I genuinely, not sarcastically, am open to being taught.
IartThou–
I understand that if you were sitting among the people yelling around you, it would sound pretty loud. However, from the front of the room, and the people sitting up on the stage with me will agree, the voicevote was overwhelmingly against the motion.
Also, no one made a motion to redo the vote as a roll call vote, so please don’t complain. Next time take some personal responsibility like a good conservative, and do something about it.

While there was some bias due to the bulk of UCLA’s supporters sitting closer to the back of the room, I agree that, since I heard roughly equal volume from both sides and I was sitting in the very back, the actual outcome was roughly halfway between what you and I heard. Thus I agree with your conclusion that UCLA lost that vote by enough of a margin that there was no need to redo it as a roll call. And I believe you about RSR’s responsibility to know about motioning to do a roll call vote. I will do my best to explain these points to others on my side who whine about the matter in the future.
