SacBee Does Cosmetic Surgery

The Sacramento Bee, California’s liberal mouthpiece of record, showed their true feelings towards Golden State voters today in an editorial entitled “You did it! Uh, so now what?” Michelle Malkin noted yesterday that this kind of reaction is to be expected from lefty newspaper types, “When initiatives go their way, voters are wise, smart, discerning citizens. When initiatives fail miserably, the electorate is a moronic mob.” The SacBee editors got an earfull:

After getting called out not only by hometown readers, but also nationally by Rush Limbaugh, the Bee yanked the editorial and replaced it with a kinder, gentler piece that did a complete 180 — from denigrating voters to counseling politicians that “You can blame the voters for reacting with uninformed and misplaced anger. Or you can look in the mirror and admit you had it coming. And you know you did.”

Blaming the voters? Reacting with misplaced anger? I smell projection. Guess the Sacto Bee editorial board had a look in the mirror. [Michelle Malkin]

According to Malkin’s blog today, the editors never intended to publish the article it was just some random “thoughts” that made it in by mistake. They decided to do some careful scalpel work, remove the blemish, and put in something a little nicer. The original article has been completely deleted from the site; Doug Ross notes that SacBee intentionally disabled their website’s Google cache to keep deleted articles off the web. Luckily Ross was able to reconstruct the piece over at his blog.
