White House Using ‘Organizing for America’ to Push Support for Sotomayor

The White House is using Organizing for America, an extension of the Obama campaign that continued into his presidency as his political advocacy wing,  to rally support for SCOTUS nominee Sonia Sotomayor. The “Stand with Sotomayor” website asks visitors to sign a petition in support of the judge, no telling how this petition would actually affect Senate hearings. A brief bio is also included on the site:

Your signature and comments will be part of a public display of support for this historic nomination in these crucial early weeks. Judge Sotomayor’s unique qualifications include:

Experience: She would start with more federal judicial experience than any new Justice in a century.

Brilliance: She’s studied and taught at America’s top universities, and is widely regarded as one of our nation’s finest legal minds.

Perseverance: Born and raised in a South Bronx public housing project, Judge Sotomayor has broken barriers all her life, honing a common-sense understanding of how the law affects our daily lives.  [My.BarackObama.com/sotomayorstand]

The heading over the petition form reads “Equal, Justice, Under, Law.” The problem is that Sotomayor’s “judicial realist” ideology says that justice is not always equal, it depends on the individual judge’s background, experiences, and even gender and race.

The White House has also tried to use Organizing for America to build support for its national health care program, asking campaign volunteers to take to the streets and rally support for the presidents health care plan.

Is this legal? Is it legal to use Tax Payer $$ to promote a Political Parties personal Agenda? If it is “I WANT MY $$ BACK!”
