This morning I was shocked to receive an email from the USC College Republicans email address that included a personal e-mail between the club’s Vice Chairman Steve and Secretary Nicole, in which they discuss a possible impeachment of the USC GOP Chairman Ben Myers.
The e-mail, sent by Myers, was followed up by a post on the Club’s Facebook page, alledging that Steve and Nicole were “abus[ing] their power in order to assist the Revolutionize CCR slate.” After speaking with both Steve and Nicole, they responded to the alegations with this statement:
We have been working to keep together the USC College Republicans club in the face of immense difficulty caused by Chairman Ben Myers’ constant attempts to bar Executive Board members from chapter operations. At no time, has anyone attempted to affect any race or candidate for California College Republicans state board through any of our actions.
Steve recently sent an email in response to Myers’ allegations to USC GOP members, in which he says that the discussion about impeaching Myers was put on hold in the interest of a pending event that will be hosted by the club, but may now be moved on “immediately.”
Myers has not responded to requests for comment on this issue, however, he has removed the concerned Executive Board members from the Facebook group with no explanation. As a recent graduate of USC, and a friend of the concerned parties, this turn of events is worrisome at least. TheseĀ erratic and self-destructive actions are not expected of a possible state-wide leader of College Republicans.
