Thank You President Bush and Vice President Cheney
Dear Mr. President,
I offer you my most heartfelt and deepest gratitude for your great and important service as President of the United States. On September 11, 2001, I was a sophomore in High School in Los Angeles, that day changed my life and the lives of all Americans. Your actions from that day forward assured me that you would do your best to keep our country safe, and protect the freedom and liberty of the good people around the world—regardless of public opinion, you did what was just and right.
Your strength and resolve in committing American forces to Iraq and Afghanistan led to the liberation of millions from the horrors of tyranny and oppression. That will never be forgotten.
To show our gratitude to you, my brother Ari and I arranged for readers of our blog, The Dana Report, to write thank you letters to you and Vice President Cheney. The letters are printed below.
I know you will continue to work, at the George W. Bush Foundation, to bring the light of liberty to the hearts of those living in the darkness of oppression. It is sad to see the White House without you as President, you’re the one I’ve known for most of my grown life; but, it is great to see our country work like no other on earth. All the best to you and yours in the years to come.
Sincerely,

Dear President George W. Bush,
We have respected you as our president and thankful for what you have done for our beloved America. Your sincerity and love for America has been very evident in those difficult and required decisions yet not always understood.
We also appreciate and are thankful for your firm stand on Biblical moral principles as they apply to our present day culture as well as your public expression of faith in Jesus Christ.
Because the Bible admonishes us to pray for those who rule over us, we have prayed daily for you these past 8 years and will continue to pray for God’s direction for your future. Please know that God’s purpose for you does not end at this juncture. We pray God will make you a force for righteousness in the years ahead. The Bible says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord”.
Thank you and may God bless you for serving our great nation.

Dear Mr. President,
Thank you for your service these last eight years in keeping us safe within our borders, giving our military a commander-in-chief of moral standing and dealing with crisis and hardship with strength, compassion and optimism. Little is said of your efforts to fight against aids and educate the continent of Africa against this veracious help to aids victims in Africa… We thank you.
As we’ve witnessed reactions to your administration, these words from Psalm 129 come to mind:
1 “They’ve kicked me around ever since I was young” – this is how Israel tells it – 2 “They’ve kicked me around ever since I was young, but they never could keep me down. 3 Their plowmen plowed long furrows up and down my back; 4 Then God ripped the harnesses of the evil plowmen to shreds.” 5 Oh, let all those who hate Zion grovel in humiliation; 6 Let them be like grass in shallow ground that withers before the harvest, 7 Before the farmhands can gather it in, the harvesters get in the crop, 8 Before the neighbors have a chance to call out, “Congratulations on your wonderful crop! We bless you in God’s name!”
We appreciate your solid commitment to Christ. It has given us confidence as we know you seek divine wisdom in these challenging times. Undoubtedly that commitment has also drawn vicious attacks. Thank you for being as an example of how to stand under such hateful reactions. We stand with you on the promise Christ has overcome the world and those who stand with him are also overcomers.
Much has been speculated about your legacy and how history will vindicate you. As you have declared and lived out your allegiance to God in Christ, He is the one who will write your legacy for His glory. You are certainly more than a conqueror!
Thank you for your service to all of us.

“The life of the world that is opposed or indifferent to God is barren and futile. It is plowing a field, thinking you are trampling all over God’s people and cutting his purposes to ribbons, but unaware that long ago your plow was disengaged. It is naively thinking you might get a harvest of grain from that shallow patch of dirt on a shelf of rock. The way of the world is peppered with brief enthusiasms, like the grass on that half-inch of topsoil, springing up so wonderfully and without effort, but as quickly withering. The way of the world is marked by proud, God-defying purposes, unharnessed from eternity and therefore worthless and futile.” Eugene Peterson A Long Obedience in the Same Direction
Dear Mister President:
The words “Thank You!” are insufficient to express my gratitude for your faithful and unflinching service. But, if I sought greater words or a greater volume of words, I’d still fall short of fully expressing my appreciation. Please just know that my thankfulness is deep and sincere. If you find time for more detail, you can check out my blog post on this, “Thank You Mr. President and Farewell!”, at http://www.redcounty.com/national/2009/01/thank-you-mr-president-and-far/.
One specific I’d like to add here is that you gave me what a lot of young folks are looking for in the incoming President … a President from their generation that they can truly be proud of. For them and for our nation, I hope they get what they bargained for. I got what I bargained for and then some, in you.
Blessings!

Thank you Bush and Cheney.
You may be unpopular, but so were Abraham Lincoln and Harry Truman at that time. History showed that they ended up being of one the greatest Presidents. I’m sure with a stable Iraq, a safer world, and a safer border you will be just as great. The economy wasn’t your fault. Carter’s and Clinton’s regulatory policies are what got you in trouble. I do thank you for 6 years of creating jobs and boosting our economy. Have a great retirement.
Your loyal Republican,

Despite what you may hear in the press (of which I am a member), millions of us respect and admire you and will miss you sorely when you are gone. You have been a beacon of resolve, humility, civility and wisdom in troubled times. Best wishes to you and your family for a safe and happy post-presidential life.

Mr. President,
Thank you for your service for the past 8 years. I am grateful for your sensitivity and stand during some very troublesome times.
May you and your family be blessed in the days to come. I leave you with a verse from Isaiah 40:31 that has been a hallmark for me. “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
With respect,
Sally Bocken
Dear Mr. President,
Thank you for the security and safety you have brought to America;

Thank you for improving America’s friendship with India, South Korea, and Japan;
Thank you for peacefully bringing about an end Libya’s nuclear weapons program;
Thank you having the most racially diverse cabinet in American history – and not bragging about it;
Thank you for keeping your promise to restore honor and dignity to the White House;
Thank you for making America strong again.

Dear President George W. Bush,
Thank you so much for protecting our country and preventing terrorist attacks for the past eight years. Americans as well as all members of the free world will truly miss your leadership, fortitude, and courage as Commander in Chief. I would like to thank you for protecting everything that America stands for and upholds each and every day as well as the need for America to Win the War on Terror. Thank you so much for all you have done to save America and I wish you and Laura a prosperous and relaxing 2009!
Very Truly Yours,
Steven Ross Basso Hagemann
Mr. President,
Thank you for you steadfast leadership in keeping our country safe over the past seven years. After September 11th, you recognize that whether you wanted to see it, or not, our nation was at war. You chose to fight back and defend freedom against tyranny and terror; to protect life and liberty against destruction and hatred. I was proud to cast my first ever ballot for you and Vice-President Cheney in 2004, and honored to have you as Commander in Chief. It may take time, but the Nation, and the world, will soon know what I know, that you were a strong and courageous leader, and that you are a great man. May you, Mrs. Bush, and your family return home in peace, and may you prosper in health for years to come.
Respectfully,

Thanks President Bush. You had to make the tough decisions, even though they weren’t popular. We thank you for deciding to do what was right for America and not for the polls. You will be sorely missed.

Dear President Bush,
It is with great honor and sadness that I write this letter to you today. While many people are celebrating the incoming President’s premature inauguration, I sit here in disbelief that eight years have gone by and we are about to appoint Obama as our next President.
I greatly admired your father when he served as President of the US and was elated to have you become President following the Clinton era. Thank you for keeping our country safe the past eight years, especially for your courage while leading the way to protect our country from terrorism since 9/11. I know the media and the left have been rather hard on your decisions, especially your decision to go into Iraq.
I don’t understand where this anger comes from by those who oppose the war, but I and my family greatly appreciate your fortitude and for standing by your principles and beliefs to protect innocent civilians in Iraq from a cruel dictator such as Saddam Hussein. I also greatly appreciate and admire your willingness to stand up for the unborn by proclaiming National Sanctity of Life Day and passing several policies to support the unborn during your term in office.
Mr. President, you will always be my President, as you are a man of God. You believe in the right to life and defend life, the need to help the poor and needy in other countries such as Africa and you saw the need to free the citizens of Iraq so that they could experience democracy and live freely as we do in this great country.
While I am hopeful, I am also saddened, that our next President will not honor the right to life and the unborn and may not support the citizens in countries taken over by terrorism and dictators. I will continue to pray for our great nation, the life of the unborn and the freedom of all people to enjoy and live life in equality. It is through God’s will and power we will survive as a nation.
Lastly, thank you for going out with a bang and offering to commute former Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean so that they could live freely again. As you realize, they were wrongfully convicted for doing the job they were hired to do, this will set a precedent that our law enforcement and border patrol agents are important to protecting our homeland. It is my hope the protection we need to keep enemies out and illegal immigrants out of this country will continue. While I am disheartened by the need for families to risk their lives crossing the border into our country, I feel it is in ours and their best interest to come here legally, so that they can be screened and arrive safely. Half of my maternal relatives immigrated here legally, therefore I feel it is imperative to follow and enforce the laws of the country in order to protect our liberties.
Farewell President Bush, you will be missed, yet never forgotten as a patriot who kept us safe and respected life as a man of God.

Thank-you President Bush and also Mrs. Bush,
I appreciate all you did for my family the last 8 years. We will miss your kindness and great leadership.
My son served in Afghanistan this summer and he was so proud to serve under you as his Commander and Cheif! We will miss you and we will never forget all you did for us after 9-11. I supported and prayed for you every day that you were in office. Thank-you again for your service!
